67th Foundation Day
On 8th April 2023, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College celebrated its 67th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and pride.
On this day, Dr. Navdeep Asija, Traffic Advisor Punjab, released a report on “Ludhiana Road Safety Assessment” of last 4 years. The report sheds light on the current status of road safety in the region and presents valuable insights and recommendations for improving the road safety scenario. The report is expected to serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders to make informed decisions and take concrete actions towards ensuring safer roads for all.
Mr. Swatantra Kumar, Regulatory Affairs Manager, Transportation Safety Division from 3M delivered a presentation on “Maintenance & Quality Control of Road Safety” The presentation aimed to highlight the importance of regular maintenance and quality control measures in ensuring the safety of roads and reducing the number of accidents. Mr. Kumar’s insights and expertise on the topic were appreciated by the audience, which included students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

The inauguration of the “Centre of Excellence – Road Safety and Traffic Management” was done by the esteemed guests including Mr. Sanjay Kumar Nirmal, Secretary General of Indian Road Congress (IRC), Mr. A.S. Rai IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), and Mr. Mandeep Sidhu, IPS, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana and Dr. H.S Rai, HoD Civil, GNDEC and Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC. Their presence added great value to the even and highlighted the importance of the collaboration between the college and Punjab Traffic Police for the Centre of Excellence – Road Safety and Traffic Management. The guests shared their valuable insights and appreciated the efforts of the college towards promoting road safety and traffic management in the region.
On this special occasion, an MoU was signed between the college and Punjab Traffic Police for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence – Road Safety and Traffic Management.
The collaboration aims to provide a platform for Research and development of innovative solutions to enhance road safety and traffic management in the region. This partnership will provide valuable opportunities for students and researchers to work on Real-world problems and contribute to the betterment of society.
